SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – We’re 10 days into the Great Vermont Coat Drive collecting coats for those in need.
WCAX has partnered with the Vermont Federal Credit Union to collect new and gently used jackets.
Last year, more than 1,000 were collected.
So far this year, more than 500 have been donated, meaning we’re on pace to beat last year’s total.
The credit union says they’ve gotten so many coats that Lund and the Vermont Department for Children and Families have to come every few days to pick them up.
“At Vermont Federal Credit Union, we’ve got members all throughout the state, and we’re always looking for ways to support people throughout the state. Coats are expensive, and it’s nice to find a good way to give back for something that people really need,” said Lincoln White of the Vermont Federal Credit Union.
You still have until Feb. 14 to drop off any coats.
Those can be brought to any of Vermont Federal’s branches across the state.
