Vermont State Police arrest 5 suspects in connection with shooting of St. Johnsbury police captian

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Police arrest 5 people who they say assisted in the escape of the shooter of St Johnsbury police captain, Jason Gray.

Jonathan Russell, Tisa Russell, William Drew, and Amber Labrecque, all of St. Johnsbury, are charged with being accessories to the hiding of alleged shooter Scott Mason. Patrice Mason, also of St. Johnsbury, is charged with aiding in the shooting and negligent storage of a gun resulting in serious bodily injury.

Captain Gray was responding to a domestic violence incident at Scott Mason’s apartment, between him and Patrice. The caller who reported it claimed that Scott had been beating her. When the officers arrived, Mason fired a gun at them, hitting Captain Gray.

Mason, the Russells, and Drew are expected to appear for an arraignment this upcoming Tuesday, January 21st at 12:30 p.m. at St. Johnsbury Superior Court. Labrecque’s arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on February 10th.
