Lebanon police rescue 3 people from burning building

LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) – Police in Lebanon, New Hampshire, saved three people who were trapped on a rooftop by fire.

Police and fire crews on Thursday night responded to a fire at an apartment building on Mechanic Street that also houses the Dairy Twirl.

When police arrived, the second-floor apartment was in flames, stranding three people on the roof. The stairs were on fire and they had no escape route.

Officers jumped into action and used a nearby vehicle as an improvised ladder, climbing onto the roof to reach the stranded people. They managed to get them all down safely.

Lebanon fire crews extinguished the flames.

The fire caused significant damage to the building.

No injuries were reported.

Officials say the fire remains under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious.
