Burlington mayor to keep police chief on the job

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak is keeping former Mayor Miro Weinberger’s department heads in place, including Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad.

Murad was finally confirmed as chief last summer after his appointment was thwarted by Progressives on the City Council for nearly three years.

New mayors typically bring in at least some new department heads with changes occurring at the start of the new fiscal year, but Mulvaney-Stanak, a Progressive, has said most department heads want to continue in their roles.

The reappointments will be brought to the council for confirmation on Monday.
