MILTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Milton Police Department adds two new drones to their force. Officers are calling it their drone search and rescue unit to help them better respond in a time sensitive manner. The program launched in November and have had three successful missions. The two drones together cost more than eight thousand dollars, and are paid for by the Department of States Attorneys and Sheriffs. Corporal Christopher Grenier says the new technology can help their police force in today’s day and age, especially with the increase of violence in Vermont’s rural communities.

“We have had a lot of incidents over the years that I have been here. Where a drone would have been helpful. Not only for keeping us safe, but for. Especially missing people.” said Grenier

The Milton Police Department wants other police forces to know, if they happen to need help where a drone could be useful, give the station a call.
