HINESBURG, Vt. (WCAX) – The town of Hinesburg is embarking on a study to figure out how to improve it’s drinking water in certain areas. The town was awarded over $54,000 from the state revolving loan fund. Officials say many residences have been effected by the towns landfill as they suspect it has been leaking chemicals into residence drinking water. At least four homes off of North road have already identified chemicals in their point of entry treatment systems, and officials believe about a dozen homes have been effected. Hinesburg is working with engineering ventures to conduct the study, and are hoping they can figure out a way to bring clean water to those residence.

“Does that mean putting poet systems in each home. Does that mean drilling a well up there for those homes. Does that mean extending up what we have that goes into the village two miles. You know these are all being looked at.” said assistant town manager Joy Dubin Grossman

The town is expected to start the study in the next couple weeks, but ultimately don’t know how long it’s going to take.
