BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The teen accused of attempted murder after allegedly targeting a man with his car will stay behind bars for now.
Police say Hamza Velic, 18, of South Burlington, hit a man in downtown Burlington after the victim threw a snowball at Velic’s car.
Velic pleaded not guilty in court on Tuesday, and Wednesday, the judge said the teen will remain in prison. But he will be held away from the general population.
Velic is expected back in court Friday to determine whether he can be released into the custody of his parents.
The man Velic allegedly struck with his car, Oliver Reed, was treated and released from the hospital for bruises and scrapes.
