RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – The Marble City is gearing up for a mountain bike ride through the snow Sunday.
The Pine Hill partnership touched up and groomed trails for its annual Cold Roll Rutland – a whole day exploring the forest with fat tires on mountain bikes.
Organizers say the fat bike event attracts hundreds of bikers from all around New England and Canada.
Pine Hill Partnership says its one of their largest fundraisers, and usually received a couple thousand dollars to help keep their equipment, as well as biking and walking trails maintained year-round, something that can be a challenge to tackle.
“It can be pretty challenging especially with downed trees that come down and most people are pretty good they’ll contact us or contact the rec about where the trees are, we have you know a group of chainsaw certified individuals that’ll go out and help cut the trees this time of year its great because we can carry the chain saw on Snowdogs so we aren’t packing it in on our backs and during the summer we’re always dealing with, like watching our erosion,” said Shelley Lutz, Pine Hill Partnership.
Mountain biking starts at 10 a-m at Pine Hill Park.
