HANOVER, N.H. (WCAX) – Is the Trump administration’s strategy to decrease the size of government similar to the one Elon Musk enacted when he took over the social media company Twitter?
Vermont has nearly 7-thousand federal workers most in pubic administration transportation and warehousing and health care. Earlier this week, the Trump administration sent out a letter to federal employees with a new set of workforce standards.
They include a mandatory return to in person office work. The letter included a resignation for those who do not wish to continue in their current role.
They have until February 6th to decide. The move has parallels to when musk bought twitter- now called “X”. That’s according to a Dartmouth college economics professor.
“It was literally the same subject line of the emails “fork in the road” and he ended up losing like 80% of his workforce I think,” said Patricia Anderson/Dartmouth College.
Trump administration officials have estimated that between 5 and 10 percent of all government employees will take the offer.
About 2 million employees got them, including staff at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction.
