Congresswoman Elise Stefanik reflects on ten years in role

PLATTSBURGH, NY. (WCAX) – New York’s 21st district will soon be without a congresswoman, as Elise Stefanik gears up for her new role in the Trump administration.

“We are proud upstate fighters and I have been proud to fight for you,” Elise Stefanik said.

North Country congresswoman Elise Stefanik is reflecting on her last ten years in congress, while preparing to move on to a new role.

“I am humbled to have made history as the youngest woman ever elected to congress at the time, to serving as the highest elected leadership of either party and the highest ranking New York republican in congress in over 100 years,” Stefanik said.

Stefanik was nominated as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations by President Donald Trump and is awaiting a final confirmation vote in the U.S Senate.

On Saturday Stefanik went on a thank you tour – touching on her accomplishments – like support for the military and and trade relations with Canada.

Among the stops included the west side ballroom in Plattsburgh.

“Remember us too. Knowing we will be thinking of with immense pride and gratitude,” Mark Henry, Chairman of the Clinton County Legislature

“Thank you for being a friend personally, to the community and to the North Country, Garry Douglas, President of North Country Chamber of Commerce said.

Her closing promise is what she’ll do in her next position.

“I stand ready and proud to advance President Trump’s America first, peace through strength on the world stage,” Stefanik said.
