Sen. Sanders grills RFK Jr. on drug prices

WASHINGTON, (WCAX) – Another day of Q&A on the books for the Health Secretary nominee.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. went before the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension Committee Thursday where democrats and republicans alike questioned him on his statements about vaccines.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is the minority ranking member in the committee. He praised Kennedy’s phrase “Make America Healthy Again.”

While he did touch on vaccines, making health care affordable was a main focus for the Independent Senator. “Lowering the cost of prescription drugs. How do you make America healthy again if one out of four people in this country cannot afford the price of prescription drugs, which is far higher in America than any other country on earth?”

If democrats stay united in their opposition, Kennedy can only lose three republican votes and still be confirmed.

One potential dissenting voice from the GOP is Louisiana Senator and physician Bill Cassidy who pushed Kennedy to say vaccines are safe.

Kennedy said he would admit it provided the data backs it up. The medical community widley agrees that vaccines are safe.
