MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Almost 6 months after the devastating floods across the region, and a year and a half since Montpelier was inundated by the July 2023 floods, the city and its businesses are still rebuilding.
Amid heavy snowfall, the community gathered for music and rallied up donations for Montpelier Alive and local businesses hurt by the floods on Friday.
David Wellington, who organized the fundraiser, remembers the day his street was decimated.
“It was apocalyptic is a word that comes to mind, and just, the question was always like well why didn’t we have more available beforehand, or why aren’t we more prepared, so this is my attempt at helping be more prepared,” said Wellington.
Wellington also says some Montpelier businesses are faring better than others and need help. If you’d like to get involved, he says to donate to Montpelier Alive.
