NORTHFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – Police say a Norwich University student died after collapsing during a training drill.
Northfield police say Daniel Bermudez died Wednesday at the Central Vermont Medical Center.
Students were conducting outside training drills when Bermudez collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
His body was sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Norwich University says Bermudez was a member of the class of 2028. In a statement, Norwich University President Lt. Gen. John Broadmeadow said, in part: “The loss has deeply affected our entire campus community, and we are united in our grief. Our thoughts and condolences are with Daniel’s family, friends, and all those who were close to him.”
The school said resources will be available to help support students, faculty and staff deal with the death.
