LAKE PLACID, Vt. (WCAX) – Proposed legislation would award Congressional Gold Medals to the “Miracle on Ice” hockey team.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer has introduced legislation to honor the 1980 U.S. Olympic Men’s Hockey Team that won a gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid against the Soviet Union.
One of the Congressional medals proposed in the legislation will be displayed at the Lake Placid Olympic Center.
It comes as Lake Placid — and the country — prepares to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the historic game.
