PERU, N.Y. (WCAX) – Police say a missing North Country man was murdered and they have made an arrest in the case.
New York state police say Timothy Timmons killed Jahfari Joseph, 40, of Plattsburgh, at a home on Fuller Road in Peru, New York, where troopers were searching all day on Tuesday.
Court documents say the murder happened on the night of Dec. 29, which is when police said Joseph disappeared.
Timmons, 61, was arrested and charged Tuesday night with second-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty. He’s due back in court next week.
Property records show the home on Fuller Road is owned by Kelly Timmons. Tuesday, police were at the scene all day. Crime scene investigators searched the house and surrounding property. Police also brought in dogs late Tuesday afternoon.
