RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A problem hotel in Rutland has been temporarily shut down. The Cortina Inn had its license suspended for at least 60 days by the Vermont Department of Health.
Town officials have expressed frustration with problems there for months, including with public drug use and camping. The state now says there were outstanding problems that did not get fixed after an abatement order back in August. Those problems include mold, smoke detector concerns, as well as sewage and plumbing issues.
The state says they recently stopped placing people in that hotel who are part of the homeless hotel-motel program.
