BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Public safety is once again a main focus of Monday night’s Burlington City Council meeting.
The Fletcher Free Library has become a hot spot in the city for open drug use and loitering. Now, the library is asking for around $100,000 to create a new position to help those who need it. The hope is that bringing access to services will cut down on emergency responses and increase access to mental health care.
The council will also be discussing the future of the Burlington Police Department and what benefits renovating their facility would bring. If approved, a three-person committee will be formed to figure out the next steps.
The meeting gets underway at 6 p.m.
