ALTONA, N.Y. (WCAX) – A hunting cabin in Altona went up in flames Thursday afternoon after multiple explosions.
Altona’s fire chief says area fire departments responded just after 4:00 p.m. to 89 Don Jr. Way.
He says they had to cut through a gate lock to get to the cabin, which already had burned to the ground. He also says no people or animals were hurt and that an investigation is underway.
“We know that there was several explosions and there was three 1,500-pound propane tanks. So, unsure if the explosions were a result of a fire or caused the fire. Again, that’s under the investigation part,” said Chief
He says the investigation could take a few days to a few weeks.
