PLATTSBURGH, Vt. (WCAX) – A motel in Plattsburgh has been condemned by the town’s code of enforcement office.

The Plattsburgh City Motel is largely made up of people receiving support from Clinton County’s Department of Social Services and houses former felons, including convicted sex offenders.

One tenant alleges that the motel has a variety of health code violations, like mold and heating issues. The owner of the motel confirms there is a boiler issue.

That tenant says they’ve been told to contact the county’s emergency housing line for assistance. However, he says that hasn’t worked, and county officials say they are unable to help at this time.

“I just want get up out of here, I want to go down to my hometown, where I am originally from, and they still tell me I can not do nothing. That they can’t help me,” said Harold, a resident at the motel.

We’ve reached out to the town’s code and enforcement office. People there say they will not comment at this time because the issue is now in court.

However, in a statement, town supervisor Michael Cashman says they “continue to coordinate with multiple agencies related to the developments and dynamics of the current situation.”
