WOODSTOCK, Vt. (WCAX) – A musical taking centerstage Wednesday in the Upper Valley stars a special group of performers.
“Peter Pan and the Pirates of Zackland” will be put on by participants of Zack’s Place, a nonprofit in Woodstock that provides activities for people living with special needs.
Zack’s Place serves about 100 clients throughout the Upper Valley.
Every year, they help write and perform a musical.
“You are learning songs, you are dancing. You are cooperating with other people. You need patience to wait for your lines because you are not in every scene. You also gain a lot of confidence because you are performing in front of a large audience,” said Dail Frates of Zack’s Place.
Zack’s Place is named after Zack Frates who had cerebral palsy. He passed away in 2011. That’s the same year the annual musicals began.
Wednesday night’s free performance starts at 5:30 p.m. at Woodstock’s Town Hall Theatre.
