SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. (WCAX) – The village of Saranac Lake, New York, will get at least $4.5 million for the construction of a new public safety building.

North Country communities are set to receive $17 million from the spending bill for Fiscal Year 2024 that is expected to pass this week.

The new Saranac Lake facility would house all emergency services. Officials haven’t officially selected a new building but are hoping to move into a former school located on Petrova Avenue.

The other option is the existing volunteer fire department facility, which the fire chief says is riddled with structural issues.

Rouses Point will also get in on the money in the FY24 spending bill with $2 million to improve the village’s water treatment plant.
