BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The man who police say caused a crash that killed Hollywood actor Treat Williams in Vermont could avoid jail time under a proposed plea agreement.
Ryan Koss, 35, pleaded not guilty in September to felony gross negligent operation with death resulting after the June collision with Williams in Dorset.
Police say Koss was turning into a parking lot when he collided with Williams’ motorcycle. The 71-year-old actor, who lived in Manchester Center, later died at the hospital.
Now, in exchange for a guilty plea to negligent operation with death resulting– a misdemeanor– Koss would have a deferred sentence. That means if he stays out of trouble for a year, the charge will be expunged from his record.
A judge has yet to sign off on that agreement. A hearing is scheduled for next month.
