WESTPORT, N.Y. (WCAX) – School officials in the Boquet Valley Central School District are gearing up for a big vote tomorrow.
The district is asking voters to approve a measure that would spend roughly $65 million on a new K-12 school in Essex County.
$5 million is coming from the district, while the rest would be paid for through property tax increases. School officials say a new building would replace the schools in Westport and Elizabethtown, which they say are in disrepair.
“Definitely some visible problems with the building and students see that, teachers see that, and we can only assume there is an effect on their learning in some capacity,” said BVCSD Superintendent Josh Meyer.
Voting will take place at the Lake View school in Westport from 12;00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
