BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Questions about cannabis? There’s a hotline for that.

Registered nurse and cannabis expert Jessilyn Dolan created the Cannabis Nurse Hotline in October when Vermont’s adult-use market opened. She partners with several dispensaries to offer advice to employees and customers. Dolan says many call with questions about whether cannabis is right for them or what strains are best for their symptoms. She says the vast majority of callers are older Vermonters curious to dip their toes in or manage pain.

“I had an 80-year-old call today who’s never used cannabis but his son is recommending it for anxiety instead of going on Lorazepam with the ten other medications he’s on,” Dolan explained.

Dolan is currently the only nurse on the hotline. She hopes to eventually bring on other nurses to help answer calls. The hotline takes free fifteen minute calls on Fridays.
