FORT COVINGTON, New York (WWNY) – A Massena man escaped injury when his vehicle was struck by a train after he tried to drive around the barriers at a railroad crossing in Fort Covington on Saturday.
State police say the barriers were down and flashing when 48-year-old Corey Fountain attempted to drive his vehicle across the tracks on Dundee Road.
Fountain was not injured. Troopers say he allegedly showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued vehicle and traffic tickets.
Fountain was arraigned in Bombay town court and released.
